[Editor's Note: A series of seizures left Lynn's brother with significant memory loss and he's guest posted about his experience. Do you have any experience with seizures and memory loss? - Denise ]

We are never guaranteed tomorrow. But on the morning of June 23, a Thursday morning, things for me went from normal and everyday to extraordinary and life changing. It was on that morning that I lost my yesterdays and started struggling to recall the events of each “today.” Now, if I do not record the events of each day, those events fail to become memories.

My mom has recently been diagnosed with epilepsy. She has had 2 grand mal seizures that were terrifying. The most recent one resulted in a fall onto the coffee table and she currently has a compression fracture in her back from that fall. She's lost her drivers license, is scared to be home alone, and is just miserable. It's been a terrifying ordeal for her. The docs say she's had it her whole life and just never knew it - no idea why the seizures have suddenly become so severe, but it is frightening. She does have some memory loss, but it's limited to the time right before, during, and after the seizures. I'm praying that medications will help her to control her seizures. :-(

My father had brain surgery a few years ago which resulted in epilepsy. He has memory problems but doesn't recognize it. It's very difficult for everyone.

My FIL is epileptic but was diagnosed only last year. He has 10-15 yrs of lost memories. Thankful for finally getting a diagnosis. His seizures were so mild that not even his wife recognized them as seizures until last year, scary!

My husband had a seizure episode back in the spring, and he's still struggling with some memory issues.

My husband had seizures as a child and both of our children also have seizures. None of them are experienced memory loss.
