Holiday Cocktails: The Glasgow Ginger

[Editor's Note: When the leaves turn, I love to break out a good single malt scotch—the smokier, the better, as far as I'm concerned. Ordinarily, I would just drink it neat, with just a drop of water to open up the flavor, but this cocktail from Good. Food. Stories. puts that single malt to work in an interesting way. I'm definitely planning to mix up a few of these over the Thanksgiving holiday! --Genie]

The Bar Cart: A smoky fall cocktail

Surprisingly, I found the mix too harshly citric—and this coming from me, the most devout of the lemon lovers—but happily, I was simultaneously drinking a ginger beer while self-bartending, so I cut the twang with a little of my beloved carbonated beverage. The warmth of the ginger softened the citrus tones while blending with the smoky undertones of the Scotch and the delicacy of the elderflower.
