[Editor's Note: Saying, "This race has degenerated into an onslaught of negative and personal attacks not worthy of the American people and not worthy of this critical time in our nation's history," Jon Huntsman dropped out of the Republican presidential race yesterday, endorsing Mitt Romney. At the Latino Politics Blog, Adriana contrasts Huntsman's position on immigration, which she describes as having "moderation and nuance," with those of the rest of the candidates. -- Julie]

Contrast some of Huntsman’s statements with those of Mitt Romney who continues to move to the right on immigration. This week Mitt Romney received the endorsement of Kris Kobach, the Kansas Secretary of State, who has promoted many of the state anti-immigration laws.

I agree. I've always maintained Huntsman was the ONLY grownup every present in the debates, and unfortunately - his care on policy and thoughtfulness on approach was too little too late. We'll have more of the same - divisive politics, and deadlock. I grieve the fact that he pulled out, but understand why he did. He couldn't feasibly win...and that's so unfortunate.
