[Editor's Note: I tried to do the allowance thing with my daughter, and I still half-heartedly give her two dollars a week when I remember, oh, and when she does her chores without complaining ... but I'm horrible about consistency and I often don't feel she's connecting the work with the money. Which I want her to. Because that's the way the world works. I like this system of Izzy's. -Rita]

I wish I knew this method when my kids were small! I could never never remember their allowance or to check that they'd done their chores.

I know a young mom who bought her kids stop watches and made a competition out of how quickly they could each finish their chores. Of course she had to inspect their work at the beginning but she said they loved the contest and it all got properly done.
