Michael Arrington Said WHAT About Diversity in Silicon Valley?
By But You're a Girl on November 02, 2011
TechCrunch founder Michael Arrington is stirring the pot again. This time, in an interview with CNN's Soledad O'Brien about an upcoming CNN special Black in America, Arrington launched a Twitterstorm, with his comments about the lack of Black entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley, going as far as saying that one African American entrepreneur could have put on a "clown show" and still gotten funded.
On her blog, But I'm a Girl, Adria Richards writes and vlogs that these comments are a symptom of unacknowledged White privilege. --Grace
I was shocked and angry when I read the article. Why would CNN do this? What the hell was Mike talking about? Now he didn’t know who Clarence Wooten was? And Clarence had experience with clown shows?
Did Arrington not remember sitting on stage with Chamillionaire at TechCrunch SF 2010 and hearing his guest raise the issue of a lack of diversity at Arrington’s conference?
Adria has much more to say about Arrington,CNN and Diversity: A Problem or Symptom of Change? at But You're a Girl.
