As we were driving by a car dealership with a bunch of balloons out front, he said, "Look at all those 'bloons! I think someone is having a birthday party!" Last weekend, I told him he was going to be attending "summer camp" this week, because I figured that would be an easier term for him to understand than "Vacation Bible School." He asked if Daddy was coming, and when I said no, he grew very concerned and asked, "But how can we go camping without Daddy?!" When I need him to actually sleep during nap time instead of just play quietly in his room, I will tell him beforehand, "You need to stay in bed. That means no books and no trains." And without fail, he always asks in return, "What about my train tracks?" So literal, those 3-year-olds. . . .
