Natural Yarn Dying
By Vickie Howell on April 20, 2012
[Editor's Note: Did you know you can dye yarn with fruit and vegetables? Neither did I, but my friend Vickie Howell taught me all about it. Vickie used a thrifted sweater that she unraveled for the yarn in this project that is also included in her book Awareknits: "I'm excited about the added element of stretching yardage in a creative way, that the dyeing/repurposing aspect will bring to the book. It makes creating beautiful, non-toxic garments for their children, accessible to mothers on a budget (and frankly during these times, who of us isn't?)"
