[Editor's Note: Erin Sipes at My Very Educated Mother made a call to action – no more ugly handmade ornaments hung from the tree. She had smiled through gritted teeth long enough when her children came home from school with a macaroni wreath or coffee filter snowflake for the tree. Erin wondered if elegant homemade ornaments existed. Could it be possible to create a homemade ornament with your kids to rival the luster of a Christopher Radko? The origami Nice Dress ornament may not sparkle or shine like something bought at the store, but it is every bit as wonderful. Ornament Challenge

Erin gives a little backstory on what inspired her to start the challenge: "We went with a real tree instead and in the spirit of change I had all three kids make homemade ornaments. It wasn't pretty and it was most definitely not perfect but it was fun, so we've been doing it ever since."
