As the old saying goes, 'Dogs have owners and cats have staff.' As cat 'staff', do you ever feel like you've been played? Here's some hard evidence that we are but mere instruments in the insatiable feline quest for self-comfort:

"And then we noticed how much water she was drinking. Because the cats get moist food, they’re not big water drinkers, but suddenly the water cup was half empty every day. To say we were alarmed would be an understatement. I think we had all but diagnosed her with kitty diabetes. And then she started being loving and totally stopped biting me and I was convinced that she must be dying because there’s no other explanation for that."

We had a similar situation with one of cats years ago. We couldn't figure out how she was going through so much water then one night we caught her dropping her spongy ball in her water dish, rolling it around, then picking it up and walking away with it. I kid you not!

My cat does that sometimes with her toy mouse. I stepped on it one day, and it was soaked.

Cats are always playing us. Whenever my Samson kitty is doing something bad, and I call him out on it, he starts licking his paw...as if to say, "I'm not doing anything mama, I was just innocently grooming myself all along." haha :-)

That's hilarious: "...she must be dying because there's no other explanation...". Reminds me of my somewhat domesticated feral cat. If I could ever pick her up, I would be very concerned.

Just like a kitty to mastermind this hoax. :)

Hahahaha. And that is why the dry cat food always gets transferred to a solid container around here.
