'Placentophagia' is the act of mammals eating the placenta of their young after childbirth. As you might imagine, it is business-as-usual in nature but in the modern human world, the act is fraught with all kinds of thorny issues and rarely are they discussed openly. Here, one blogger takes on the issue from a religious viewpoint:

"But what about the argument that placentophagia goes against God’s will? That one, my friends, is a religious question and I am not a theologian. However, Anna Marie Zalesak has studied philosophy and Catholic theology and has written a great argument in support of placentophagia for Catholics."

There is no legal impediment, which gives it a framework of personal outlook, spirituality, and philosophy. While I would not make this choice, I'm not about to suggest my personal choice is the correct one. If it works for others, best wishes to them.
