Protect Your Site From This Malware Hack
By Sophisticated Dorkiness on December 14, 2012
Having your site hacked is every blogger's worst nightmare. Even when you maintain access to your site and no content is lost, the mere act of trying to defend your site and keep hackers out is time-consuming and frustrating. The vast majority of bloggers feel comfortable poking around in a post's HTML, but many fewer feel as if they have a firm handle on their c-panel.
Sophisticated Dorkiness had her site hacked, and the scary thing was that it wasn't apparent immediately. In fact, if not for paying attention to a few small clues, she would have missed the malware altogether. She writes,
I’m writing this post because what happened to me and my site was likely preventable. Had I paid more attention to some early signs of a problem or taken basic website maintenance and security seriously, I probably wouldn’t be writing this post. I don’t want to scare anyone, but I think it’s important to share this information and remind other bloggers who self-host their sites to be vigilant.
Have you ever experienced this hack? And moreover, will you be protecting your site from now on?
