The reason I returned my Hoka’s

For over a year I have imagined in my mind, especially after reading glowing review after glowing review, that I would find my running magic in a pair of Hoka One One’s. Perhaps because of the price or perhaps because of the size and ridiculous appearance of the shoes, I dreamed that they would propel me to faster race times and bigger mileage. Because I tend to be fearful of spending large amounts of money (anyone who has been through a one-income job loss surely shares this form of PTSD—sweaty palms, hyperventilating), I figured that I would probably never actually buy them unless they went on major sale or were left on my doorstep by my fairy godmother. . . .
