Red Velvet Hearts Light Sparks on Valentine's Day

Editor’s note: Okay, this recipe had me at “silver disco dust,” which is sprinkled over the top of these supercute Red Velvet Hearts. Though she calls them by the fancy French name "petit fours," this Valentine’s Day idea from Kristan at Confessions of a Cookbook Queen couldn’t be easier. Just break out the heart-shaped cookie cutters and frost these babies. The edible silver disco dust is not optional. --Jane

It turns out [that petit fours] are not so fancy. They’re just tiny pieces of cake. Normal people can eat them like it’s no big deal at all!! Want to make some? Listen to me carefully, because I am the Petit Four Whisperer… You just need cake. Cold cake. And some powdered sugar and water. The end. Who’s fancy now, huh??
