Saying Goodbye to a Companion Animal

Dear friends, you know I have shared so many details of my personal life here on my blog, and I wanted to tell you that my husband Alan and I had to say goodbye to our older cat, Roxy, a week ago Wednesday: I adopted Roxy 18-years ago when I was a lonely college senior living on my own for the first time. She lived with my mom for a few years as I found my way on that bumpy road of early adulthood, but she moved in with Alan and me once we got married and were settled in our home together. A few years later, we adopted another kitty, Xena, but I always considered Roxy my “first born” and she was very, very special to me: Roxy was a great photo bomber, too, and showed up every so often on my blog: As my dear kitty aged, she had developed numerous health conditions, but it was eventually the pain of her arthritis that led us to euthanize her. . . .
