A Family Visit to the Trash Museum

Featured BlogHer Network Post

Bribing her husband with a bucket of beer, Marcy gathered the tribe for an adventurous journey to their local waste facility where a most unusual museum exists. For a lesson in excessive waste, there's nothing like a day of touring organized garbage with the family:

First, we searched for scavenger hunt items in the Trash Museum. Note the seagull eerily poised above my family’s heads, a perfect reminder of childhood trips to the dump....The museum, run by the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority, was well organized with information on reducing waste and recycling...After touring the exhibits, we watched the trucks coming in and the recyclables being sorted from the mountain of debris....
