I shoveled the driveway yesterday afternoon, which gave me one hour with my thoughts, no interruptions. Shoveling snow is so therapeutic to me. Maybe it’s because the world suddenly feels a little safer and peaceful under a blanket of snow, or maybe it’s the actual act of shoveling — such a mindless task that still requires a lot of physical effort — that I find kind of healing. . . .
