How does one battle unwelcome forces that cannot be seen? One protective momma puts on the armor and wins.

"I told FireGirl... no more. It was not okay that FireKitty was coming by herself. That she lived with God now, and if God wanted her to come, He would have come too. That I don't want FireGirl playing with FireKitty anymore, by themselves."

I have never had the intensity of experiences you have written about, nor the fears of the devil. It's interesting to read and I'm glad that your relationship with your husband is healing.

Graylin Whitts Did you click all the way through and read the whole post. It's fascinating. I found myself surfing her archives to get more back story and think more about what it might be like to experience this stuff.

Really fascinating...

I agree with Leslie W. above. Little children will often create an imaginary friend, especially after a traumatic experience. So what if in this case it was the deceased kitty? And although I am respectful of both psychic abilities as well as religious beliefs, I do think that some in the medical community would be concerned about this Mom's experience with visitations/voices/hallucinations.

Thanks Denise. I am well aware of the vision. I supose I appreciate the difference in perspective of this Blogger, but question why it would be a featured post...there is little opportunity for reflection, it borders on offensive on so many different levels...and is such an extreme on either side of the truth. Spirits aren't all devil and Jesus. You cannot pray away your problems. It doesn't provide the true depth of these issues, it just insights uneducated discussion...

"Clicking through and reading the whole post" was my mistake. Different strokes for different folks I guess to put it nicely.

Why tell her daughter that the cat can only visit her with God. What? I feel a bit sad for the daughter. The author seems to be overthinking the issue a bit.

Can't really speak for blogher, since i'm just one of a gazillion members, but they generally want to cover the lives and experiences of women from all walks of life. The difficult thing abut this topic is that it's part of a belief structure many people hold, but one that's dependent on personal experience. Nobody can authoritatively either disprove or confirm the blogger's version of what caused her experience, but that has to be OK in matters of faith.

Uh.... I'm not sure it's a gift that is hereditary.

I think it's great that BlogHer is spotlighting bloggers that are...a little off the beaten path. Starting conversations is good.

If I would have read the titles of her Top Ten in the right hand column I could have saved myself reading this post. Wow.

I grew up in a house that I can only call haunted ... and I always knew when whatever it was was around. There were many times that I'd see movement out of the corner of my eye and when I'd look to see what was there, it was of course, nothing. The real coup de gras for our ghost was when she began to appear in the glass window panes of the door that separated the living room from our sun porch. You could see her walking past the door clear as day as a reflection in the glass. Things would disappear ... you'd set a hairbrush on the edge of the sink & turn around, only to find it gone. Or car keys. Or jewelry. Dishes rattled in the cabinets in the middle of the night ... and we don't live in an earthquake zone. The dog would freak out and start tracking something we couldn't see with it's eyes up toward the celiing all the way around the room. It was a challenge because everything in my family's life was in turmoil ... then we moved & left that place & ghost behind. Creepy, but true my friends.

This bothers me in many ways. Perhaps because I know how real this is to the people who experience it, though I have problems believing it. The mind is fascinating.

I am not coming from the same religious affiliation as the writer. I am a psychic, and yes I see all the entities etc., I believe animals have souls, so yes many times my animals that have passed come to visit, and I welcome them. Like I said I am sure her little girl will never tell her anymore if her kitty visits because of her moms beliefs. I hid who I was for many years because of a religion that told me it was evil.

I experience things like this quite often. I don't talk much about it because people will laugh.

It's a hard post to comment on. I completely believe in spirits but that's all I'll say about it. The Jesus stuff has to do with her personal belief structure.
