[Editor's Note: Like many women/film buffs/culture lovers I was (and am) a huge fan of Nora Ephron and her entire body of work. It is only fitting that her friends and colleagues would honor the late auteur by creating an award to continue her legacy for another generation of female filmmakers. The Tribeca Film Festival sent out an email Tuesday announcing that in memory of Nora Ephron, they will honor an outstanding female filmmaker during this year’s festival with the Nora Ephron Prize.
The $25,000 award, supported by Vogue.com, will recognize a female writer or director who embodies the spirit and vision of the legendary filmmaker and writer, according to the press release. The inaugural prize will be presented at the annual Women’s Filmmaker Brunch at TFF 2013 on April 25 by TFF co-founder Jane Rosenthal and Sally Singer, creative digital director of Vogue.
