Twitter Tiff: Did Amanda Marcotte Mind Her Manners?
By The Good Men Project on December 09, 2011
[Editor's note: Have you ever been flamed by someone you admire on Twitter? In a chat that started out perfectly lovely and polite and then quickly dissolved into a snarkfest? Well, Neely Steinberg recently did with no less a feminist than Amanda Marcotte in a complicated exchange that involved feminist detractor Kate Roiphe, sexual harassment, the New York Times and the word slut. Steinberg recounted the whole ugly tiff at The Good Men Project, part of which I’ve excerpted here.--Mona]

After you read the post, I'd love to hear what you think. What went wrong here? Was Marcotte in a bad mood and that's why she got testy with Steinberg? Should Steinberg have kept challenging Marcotte about the fact that men are called "sluts" too? Was the "bridge" comment over the top? Has anyone ever been mean to you on Twitter? What did you do about it?
