So Delicious Holiday Nog

The holidays are here and I find myself way behind this year. Have you ever had one of those years? Usually by now all my Christmas shopping is done, and my house has been decorated since the first of the month. This year there just seems to be a lot going on and I just put up the outdoor holiday lights yesterday! Wow, I'm so behind. After stringing the lights last night I decided I needed, no deserved, a drink. So what is better then some eggnog?

Now I know what you are thinking. Holiday eggnog can be troublesome to make, plus many of you prefer egg free and dairy free options. Well, I picked up a carton of So Delicious Dairy Free Coconut Milk Nog just the other day. This drink is not only dairy free, but also egg free. I've never tried a dairy free nog before and when I saw it at my local Whole Foods I thought I would give it a whirl. After taking a quick sip, I was surprised to find how close it tasted to the real thing. Of course you can taste the coconut, but the flavor is not overpowering.   I feel the coconut milk gives the nog a nice added dimension of flavor. Makes me think of Christmas in Hawaii.

So I poured myself a glass and decided in proper holiday tradition to spike the nog. Now when making an eggnog the most common liquors used are bourbon, whiskey or rum. Now I do not keep hard liquors on hand, and only had some cooking wines and leftover Disaronno Originale from the Chocolate Pumpkin Tiramisu I had made at Thanksgiving (which came out wonderfully by the way). So Disaronno it was! I started by slowly adding measured ingredients to a glass until I got a nice consistency and the flavor I was looking for. I prefer my nog to be a bit thinner then traditional eggnog, so I added extra coconut milk. I also believe you should be able to taste the liquor, but it should not overwhelm nor underwhelm the drink. So here is what I came up with. I hope you like it. Happy Holidays!
