Social networking vital help for natural disasters
By AnneFlink12 on March 11, 2011
Our thoughts go out to all affected by the recent natural disasters such as the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, the earthquakes in New Zealand, and the floods in Australia.
2012 seems to have had a particularly bad run so far, and global climate change does not bode well for the future.
In disaster situations, social services like Flink12 can provide a quick way to:
- let your family know you're safe
- share your current location
- share photos or news
For example, after the Japan earthquake the phone and cell networks were congested and apparently voice calls were restricted for emergency use. Social services on the internet provided an essential alternative to get a short message out [http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20042108-1.html].
Perhaps a social service has helped you keep in touch through difficult situations? I'd love to hear your comments on my blog at Flink12.com.
