Some Good Things Should Never Ever Come To An End | RIP BKS Iyengar Guruji

It was 7 years ago that I moved to Pune & it has been that many years when I was introduced to Iyengar Yoga.

In India there are many forms of Yoga being promoted and everyone is coming out with books, DVD, Youtube videos by dozens. From a practitioner to an actress, everyone is jumping on the Yoga wagon.

In this commercial time, BKS Iyengar Guruji stood for what he believed - practice of Yoga & understanding of your body makes you and not copying any yoga video. He may not be as well known as some of the common gurus of Yoga who even dabbled in politics but he was the best.

Soon after joining him I conceived and under his guidance practiced yoga till the end of both my pregnancies. I had extremely healthy pregnancies which were personally guided by him or Geetaji (his daughter). My every ache and pain was addressed in each class and taken care of.

Unfortunately I could not continue Yoga after my second delivery - Life got in the way but every day I try to find ways to go back to it. Everytime we discussed relocating to a new place, my biggest concern was accessibility to the institute and yoga.

Such a man who encouraged Yoga for each individual passed away this morning at the age of 96 years.

There does not pass a day when I do not think of Iyengar Yoga, RIYMI, guruji or the extensively talented pool of teachers he developed. I am glad that he has left behind such a great legacy.

I am too overwhelmed. I feel that I have lost my guiding light.

Some Good Things Should Never Ever Come to An End. RIP BKS Iyengar Guruji.
