My son LOVES that little yellow sponge that lives in the sea. He watches him when ever he can and will point him out EVERYTIME he sees him. Not a problem because he is just 3 and I still monitor what he watches and does.
While he loves that sponge, he does not have any toys of him. He has a coloring book and a reading book, but no stuffed toys or figurines.
Well Thursday I was bringing in freshly cut wood to make a fire and son decided to help me. He started stacking and unstacking the smaller (kindling) sized wood chunks. Then all of a sudden he screams "Mommy look! Spo.ng.ebo.b! Mommy Spo.nge.bo.b!!!" I look over and see a chunk of wood. Well he picks the wood up and takes it to the couch and starts conversating with it.
I think it is cute and keep about building a fire. Well Hubby got home from work a few hours later and he is still conversating with SB (Spo.ng.ebo.b) and introduces SB to daddy. This is getting funnier as hubby doesn't know what son is talking about. He slept with it Thursday night.
Friday he is still conversating with it and calling it SB so, being the awesome mom I am, draw SB on the piece of wood

and Son goes NUTS with excitement. He is clapping while I draw SB crudely on the wood. As soon as I am done he starts dancing with SB and they are now "best friends".
Saturday SB came with us to soccer and shopping, and Sunday SB came with son and I to the Bee movie. He has slept with son every night. son is generous though and lets daughter carry SB sometimes too.
The funniest moment though was Sunday afternoon. son was crabby from the movie and I told him he needed quiet time. He then picked up SB and told him it was quiet time. SB must have said no because son then took SB to the fireplace, showed him the flames, spoke to him in the language he normally only talks to his sister in and then started laughing. He then hugged SB and said OK quiet time will start now" and they went to his room. He laughed all the way down the hall.
