  • Melissa from A Familiar Path said "I'm still very pleased with the Avent bottles. The clean up easily, I love the design and shape of the bottle and my daughter likes them."
  • Over on 3 Kids and Us, Cat's daughter is usually fussy after finishing a bottle because of the gas that gets trapped inside. Since using Avent, she has seen a significant change in her daughter's moods after feeding and her burping has been cut down!
  • Being a brand new mom, Amy from This Northern Life was at a loss when it came to picking bottles. Read her review to see how Avent bottels made her daughter happy!
  • Amy from Nothing's Broken was very impressed with her daughter's moods after feeding her with an Avent bottle. All in all, she though tAvent bottles were very well put together.
  • Heather from Living For Him loved that Avent bottles were wider making it easier for her daughter to hold herself. She says, "I have never a problem with my daughter having gas with the Avent nipples."
  • Kate Wicker already loved her Avent breast pump and was excited to try out the Avent bottles. She thought it was great that her daughter could control the flow of milk from the Avent nipple and the fact that the bottles fit right onto her pump!
  • Avent bottles came highly recomended to Kelly from Kelly's Korner. She liked the size, shape and the fact that the Avent bottles help reduce colic and goes well with breast feeding.

The arrival of a baby brings joy and excitement to new parents' lives. However, those first few weeks of infancy can also mean the onset of colic and fussing in babies following bottle feeding. Persistent crying from an unsettled, uncomfortable fussing baby can deprive both mother and baby of much needed sleep and rest.

Avent's BPA Free Natural Feeding Bottles are clinically proven to reduce colic* and to reduce fussing especially at night time**.

As your baby feeds, the unique skirt on the AVENT nipple flexes to allow air into the bottle, preventing any vacuum build-up. Listen for the gentle whistling sound and watch the air bubbles move from the nipple and into the bottle - not into the baby's tummy.

* At 2 weeks of age babies fed with an AVENT bottle showed a trend to less colic than babies fed with a conventional bottle.
** At 2 weeks of age babies fed with an AVENT bottle showed a trend to less fussing than babies fed with another leading bottle.

Must Have Nursery Item

The rocking chair! I've put more effort into this item than nearly anything except the crib and bedding. I just believe that we both have to be comfortable and happy in the chair and it is something that we will use for years to come. It's a big choice. Cost is another major factor. A good chair is not cheap. I'm off to continue the search!

must have nursery item

i would say my must have nursery item would be my nursing pads,  i needed them, and if i did not have them facecloths were so uncomfortable

Must Have Nursery Item

Hmm.. tough question but hands down would HAVE to be a ring sling.  It made life so easy to carry the baby safely and be able to actually do things around the house.  I even cooked an entire thanksgiving dinner for 8 with my two month old in the sling!  :)

My favorite

My favorite and most-needed nursery item for this last baby would be my Moby-style baby wrap.  I took it everywhere with me!  And the best part...I made it myself with $1/yard fabric from Walmart.  So I made 2 of them for $5 (one for home and one for car) and it required no sewing!

I can't live without my

I can't live without my Medela pump.....is that a nursery item?  It allowed me to nurse my son for 14 months when I went back to work....

Other than that....our co sleeper, our Sounds/Movement monitor, and our bottles!

Nursery Must-have

My son, who is my second and probably last child, will be turning two in a few weeks. As I think back upon all the baby essentials I freaked out about having for both of my kids (digital monitor! wipes warmer! organic bedding!), it is clear that there are only a few really necessary things: crib, diapers, wipes and a never-ending supply of burp cloths. Most importantly, a sense of humor and optimism because the late night feedings and constant waking do eventually stop...

Nursing Stool

I LOVE having my nursing stool.  My rocker came with an ottoman, but after a while I ended up pushing that aside and used my nursing stool instead.  My legs are too short to comfortably reach the ground, so the slight elevation you get from this little thing is perfect!  In fact, I've been done nursing for 6 months and still use the stool when I'm rocking my little ones before bed.  I've been known to bring it out to the living room and prop my feet up when I'm sitting on the couch, and it was perfect for my petite 80-year-old grandma's short legs when she came to visit!  They are definitely worth the $15!

Must Have's

Okay with my two munchkins I found a few things to be essential. First,  the rocking chair for nursing, late night bottle feedings for Daddy, and general comforting.  However, my second child was not a fan of the rocking chair so I highly recommend a sling or front carrier for those children who attached at the hip.  For me personally I loved my Ameda pump since I went back to work so soon and wanted to continue providing breastmilk to my children for as long as possible.

Nursing Pillow(s)

Especially for first-time moms learning how to nurse their babies, a nursing pillow that works for you and your infant can be a big help.

With my first, the Brest Friend was a lifesaver -- it has an almost flat surface and can be clipped around your waist to make it more stable. With my second, I found the Boppy worked better, even though I hated it with my first. So borrow what you can, or if you can afford both, get/register for both.

My glider...many, many hours

My glider...many, many hours of feeding, bonding and soothing have been spent in that chair. It has been a lifesaver.

Nursery Must-Have

Our guest bedroom doubled as the nursery (or vice versa) so there was a queen bed in there - against the wall.  Was ideal for nursing in the middle of the night or for mom or dad to cuddle up with baby for a nap in the day.  Or for playing on.  Not the normal nursery item, but was great for us!

Must have baby items

My must have was a nursing pillow! Even if you decide to not nurse get one! Holding your baby while bottle feeding you still need the support! Another must have is a swing! Especially if you have older kids, if you have a swing you know baby is safe, being entertained while your taking care of your older child. Plus babies love the soothing swing and music! Both my girls loved the swing.

Also, for me I nursed my younger DD for a year, and having a good binkie (pacifier) was so helpful, after she was done nursing I'd pop a binkie in her mouth and she was happy as pie. Funny is she outgrew the binkie by 8 months.

I couldn't live without...

As a first time mommy, there are many things that have saved my sanity during this first 7 months. However, the biggest lifesaver for me has been my sling. (I was given a Hotsling as a gift.) I never thought that I would be a "baby wearer", but my son loved the sling! He would probably still get in it if he fit! Now he loves being in the Baby Bjorn. He loves to be walked around. I recommend a sling to any mommy!

So many nursery essential must haves!

I don't know if I could choose just one!  I have four kids and am expecting my fifth child and to me, is my Medela breast pump (lifesaver for a mom prone to clogged milk ducts), glider rocker (to comfort the baby and yourself during long feedings), and a cd player with lots of soothing tunes!  Those would be my top 3!

I couldn't live without....

I have quite a few- my sleepy wrap, a mechanical pump and my papisan chair- all made my life a little easier in the first few weeks of my 2nd child's birth!

Must have...

My glider. I have put so many miles on that baby. I even rock in it when my son is not in my arms. It's just so comforting. The second must have is the cd player that we always put on when he is sleeping. Also very comforting.

Except those ones with scary orca breaching noises

A good ocean sounds or white noise CD, machine or downloaded app can save your sanity with some babies. Life in the womb was noisy with sloshing, and I've seen several babies increase their contentedness and breastfeeding immeasureably when the mama experiments with quiet, steady noises to calm, increase nap times or increase feeding times.

 My must have nursery item

My must have nursery item is a white noise/sound machine.  We even travel with one!

I love the fact that Avent bottles are now BPA free---I'll be using them again this winter!

A really good crib

I loved our baby crib because the height was adjustable (so we didn't have to bend over too far to put our sleeping babies down), the side went down softly and quietly (so lifting and lowering the side never woke them up) and it was a gorgeous piece of furniture that was safe and sturdy.  We splurged a bit for the crib and I don't regret it one bit.

Glider Rocker

I couldn't live without my glider  rocker.  I spent countless hours there with my little guy the first year of his life.  He didn't sleep through the night until 13 months so I spent night after night rocking, nursing, and of course begging my little guy to sleep.  I don't know how I would have done it without my comfy rocker!

The Swing

When my daughter was a newborn she wanted to be held CONSTANTLY.  Our battery operated swing was the only way I could take a shower or eat a meal.   I would have gone crazy without that swing.  :)

A pacifier is definitely a must have

It is rare for my son to fall asleep without a pacifier. I also love Baby Einstein's Jumper. My son has entertained himself with that plenty while I do housework.

my must have item

My biggest help would have to be the cheap cd player we just got to play relaxing sounds on CD, on repeat, all night long! LOL My daughter would wake up in the night when it was too quiet and get scared, she was so used to the noise of the nicu and daytime. It is a life saver!

Must have nursery items

Mine was the Boppy pillow (with extra pillow cases), playtex drop-ins bottles (sorry Avent :) no disrespect meant) & the thick cloth diapers used as burp rags, throw up cleaners...they are just so versatile. And when you are done using them, they can be used as cleaning rags. BONUS!

As a Dad...

I didn't need a nursing pillow much...I also didn't get to do any of the feeding until he was on solids.

But boy did I sleep in that rocking chair!

Something cool I did with my son was make a recording of my own heart beat with those little microphone/recorders they sell to listen to your babies heart beat when they're still in the womb.

I then made it into a loop, and used to play it in his room when he got fussy. Out like a light. Us dads like to fix things in creative ways.

My Must have item...

...was my rocking chair. All 5 of my children were babies that were rocked to sleep. I loved it because it gave me that special boding time with them. To this day I still have that rocker. It is in need or refurbishing but still works very well and still comfortable.

Must haves!

I absolutly think a must have is one of those machines that hook to the side of the crib. We had one that came on and played soft music when charlotte cried and even a light show on the ceiling. It was automatic and soothed her without me having to get out of bed. Charlotte is now 4 and I still kept it just in case I have more kids. It was something I would NEVER want to be without!

Swaddle Blanket

My must-have is a swaddle blanket - the kind with the tabs and velcro to make it easy to swaddle and keeps it from coming apart.  My husband was a master swaddler with any type of blanket but I was a iserable failure until I found one with velcro!

My Must Have Item - A Digetal Video Monitor

I dont know what I would do without this thing. I had one of the analog style monitors, but the picture would fade out. The digetal monitor has a strong signal, clear picture, night vision and motion detector. It also has a "night light" feature that I can turn on from the hand hald base that is blue and allows me to see, but doesn't wake him.
