Spend Less Save More: Monthly Review and February Savings
It’s time for the end of the month review. Now if you are new to this blog I’ll explain what that means.
As savers we keep track of not just what we spend and save on our grocery bills in order to transfer those savings into tangible savings we itemize our monthly expenses from utility bills to any charge accounts, savings, and miscellaneous expenses dining out , unexpected expenses so on. It’s important to review each bill making sure you are not being over charged and to see if there is a place such as your phone or satellite bill where expenses can be trimmed. Most importantly as we’ve learned with the whole Target incident we must keep a close eye on the bank, debit and credit card statements to ensure that there are no unexplained charges on these accounts. Act quickly once you do notice or the issue may affect your credit and bank account.
I understand that cutting expenses is not always an option for some so instead of cutting you may decide to scale back maybe not go out as much or decide only to make cash purchases so you’re not paying the interest on purchases. If you set a goal to save for a big purchase then you have to decide to add to a savings account using the 52 week challenge is always helpful and has been to me. If you haven’t begun it’s simple just catch-up by adding $10.00 to your savings account and $11.00 next week and $12.00 the next and so on at the end of the 52 weeks year you will have $1,378.00 and that’s a savings account that you can count on for say Christmas shopping or a perfect emergency fund.
Another great way to save as you shop would be by becoming a member of Checkout 51. Before you shop become a member checkout the offers and if you decide to make a purchase of one or more of the current offers simply submit your receipt online by phone or scanning it into the website then the price of the offer is placed say $1.00 or $3.00 is placed into your account when it reaches $20.00 you are able to withdrawal from the account. You just may want to let it accumulate so that you can use it as a savings account just think about it your savings potential is unlimited. Keep an eye on the Checkout 51 page for current offers and the coupon matches page for matches using coupons in the store and then submitting to checkout 51 you save at both ends.
