Spring Break Painting
By Our Heirloom Life on April 07, 2012
I have been thanking my lucky stars this week because it is SPRING BREAK. This means that we are all off! We have been playing at the park, riding our bikes, and running around like crazy. I can't believe that it is already Wednesday. These free days go way too fast. And today, unfortunately, Kale is sick. So today we stayed home. Poor little guy slept all day.
But that didn't stop Kaya and me from doing a little Spring Break Painting.
This was a really fun project. All you need is crayons, a canvas, a hot glue gun. Slide the crayons through the hot glue gun onto the canvas. Easy. Fun.
By the time we were done with our art, it was dinner time and Kale was up. My pantry is looking pretty scarce around here...one thing I did have was cabbage. Have you ever roasted cabbage? A while back, I saw a recipe by Martha Stewart for roasted cabbage. In a last ditch effort not to go to the store tonight - we gave it a try. So - we ate some oven roasted cabbage and some left over meatballs. It was really yummy. All-in-all - it was a good day.
Oven Roasted Cabbage
(slightly modified from Martha Stewart)
1 head of cabbage
salt and pepper to taste
dill (if you would like)
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Slice cabbage in 1 inch slices. Lay flat on a cookie sheet. Drizzle with olive oil. Season with salt, pepper and dill. Roast for 40 min or so.
They get this delicious roasted edge. Yum.
