Spring Organizing Challenge: Day 5
By MS. Simplicity on March 25, 2011
Today's challenge begins in your closets! So many people have too many items in their closets but they don't know how to get rid of anything. I have my client's use the hanger test. The hanger test is simple and takes the emotion out of choosing which clothes to get rid of! This is a challenge that will take you several months to complete, but you can start the process today.
1. Simply turn all your hangers in your closet so that they are now backwards. Do that to all of the items that are hanging up in your house. Spouse, kids and coat closets count too.
2. As you wear an item and wash it and put it back on a hanger, hang this item the proper way in the closet.
3. Now give yourself a period of time, say 3 to 6 months. Whatever is still left on the backwards facing hangers are clothes that you don't wear. The hanger is the proof that you will need to show to yourself that you are not wearing the clothes and they are just taking up room in the closets. (If you live in an area of the country where there are 4 seasons you will need to do this seasonally. For example you can't do this in the winter with your summer clothes.) When your allotted time is left, grab all the clothes still on the backwards hangers and go and donate them! Quick, before you change your mind!

Wondering what this challenge is all about? Here are the details:
Before you can tackle your Spring Cleaning you must first get your Spring Flinging done, or as I like to call it “Spring Green Fling”, because I want you to be green as you are getting rid of the items that no longer are going to be in your home. I am going to challenge my readers and followers on facebook to join me as we get organized before we start our Spring Cleaning. This challenge will last 10 days and will close at midnight CST on March 30, 2011. I even have a prize at the end of the challenge. The winner will receive one hour of my organizing services. Don’t live by me, no worries as we can chat on the phone or via Skype or even do your organizing through email.
To be entered in the challenge you need to post a comment on my blog or post a comment on my facebook page. Each comment you get one point. Each point will enter you in the drawing for the free organizing hour. Invite your friends and family to join and tell me you invited them and you will get 2 points! For example if you get 50 points, you get 50 chances to win!
Remember to share with your friends and family, as you know if you send this to your mother she will spam all her friends with this…..go ahead, they wont mind!
