In celebration of the first day of Spring, we thought we'd share one of our favorite spring fundraisers just to put you in the mood.
One of our absolute favorite fundraising sales for Spring comes from Mixed Bag Designs.
Mixed Bag Designs offers everything from reusable totes in every shape, style and size you could imagine (including our favorite - insulated!!) to matching scarves, bracelets, gift bag sets with tissue, make-up bags and luggage tags. There are zip totes, nylon totes, canvas totes, faux leather totes. There are large totes big enough to go away for the weekend, and small totes perfect for carrying your lunch. There are insulated totes for casseroles and picnics, nylon drawstring totes just the right size for a towel and bathing suit, garbage totes for your car and storage totes that slip under the bed to hold sweaters or shoes or your child's artwork. There's even a tote called the "Hold Everything" - need we say more??
There are backpacks and duffles and crossbodies and grocery bags. The list goes on and on. With price points that range from $9 to $38 and 50% going to your organization, it's a fundraiser that is profitable for your organization without being overly extravagant for your customers.
But is there anything for the boys? That is what we wondered before our first sale. Yes, there is! There are plenty of patterns for the boys in everything from the weekend duffle to lunch bags and totes. Don't worry!
Start your Mixed Bag fundraiser by going to the main fundraising page of their website. There you will find the links to contact a representative in your area who will answer any questions and get your fundraiser started. You will order Catalog Kits which are free and ship to you at no charge. Click here to see a digital copy of the Spring 2014 Fundraising Catalog.
TIP: When ordering your Catalog Kits, order a some extras but not too many. The free shipping of your group order will be dependent on a percentage of sales from the total number of Catalog Kits that you received.
Samples are one of the keys to success.
Mixed Bag allows your fundraising chairs to purchase a variety of samples at a significant discount in order to display the bags during your sale. We suggest your sample order include an array of styles and patterns - your goal is to show your supporters as many different options as possible. Once they arrive, we found it helpful to place a tag on each item identifying the name of the item, the name of the pattern and the price. Display them in a central location like a school's main office.
Promotion is the other key to success.
Get people excited about Mixed Bags and your sale. Put up signs, put it in your newsletter, send out emails, put up your display. The colorful samples you put up in all the bright colors and patterns will get people ready for some springtime fun!
Some other things to keep in mind.
- If you hold your sale in AL, CA, CT, FL, IL, MD, NC, OH, SC, PA, TN or TX, you are required to pay sales tax on your fundraising sale unless you have a tax exempt letter(this exemption no longer applies in Texas). Your certificate of exemption must be filed with Mixed Bag Designs prior to the beginning of your sale.
- Orders will begin packing as soon as your payment is received. You will receive your pre-sorted orders in 2-3 weeks after receipt of payment.
Share the love!!!
Don't forget to share the love. Send your link to family and friends out of town and receive 40% of the online sale to your organization. Mixed Bag Designs will even provide you with a customizable email blast to send out to your supporters as well as family and friends.
We know you're probably wondering if we get anything for our glowing recommendation of Mixed Bag Designs and the answer is NO. We have worked with them for multiple sales over the past few years and really enjoy their product. We just wanted to share in case you are looking for something new to add to your fundraising "menu" of offerings, perfect for spring.
