Standing On My Own Two Feet
This post was actually a long time coming. Being born with spina bifida, the number one cause of paralysis in children in America, I am fortunate to be able to walk. Indeed, I've often been more "paralyzed" by my own fear of rejection than by anything else. It's amazing just how much power we give our physical appearance in determining who we are. As I learned with this reflective post, and with the positive response I received upon publishing it, physical appearance is very much in the eye of the beholder.
