Post 9-11 when I came to the immediate realization that I couldn't always protect my kids, I decided to hold true to a promise I made to God. Being an self-admitted work-aholic, after the birth of my first child I made a promise to God that if anything "world changing" were to happen, I'd quit my job and be a stay at home mom.
While I did not personally lose anyone or even know anyone in the 9-11 devastation, the impact 9-11 had on me was very emotional and while I recognized that this was a "world changing" event, I tried to ignore my promise to God. (Not Recommended!)
The 2 weeks following 9-11 I was reminded over and over of my promise and by the end of September it was obvious to me that God wasn't going to let me out of my promise. He has a very good memory you know....
Now, my husband's income was 1/3 of mine and the thought of walking away from a 6 figure salary was frightening to say the least but my faith in God is strong and I knew he would take care of us one way or another so in October 2001 I stopped working and became a full time stay at home mom.
I immediately came to 2 realizations. #1.....I didn't have a clue what to do to occupy my time and #2, my word.....I spent alot of money on expensive suits, gas, wear and tear on my car, childcare, etc. just to have that 6 figure income. THIS WAS GOING TO BE EASIER THAN i THOUGHT....
This blog will take you through a journey of how to start living frugally. IF I CAN DO IT...SO CAN YOU. STAY TUNED FOR MY TIPS ON TO START LIVING FRUGALLY.
