I was emailing back and forth with a friend earlier today about the different things each of us are doing to save money and to try to be more environmentally friendly at the same time. I thought I'd share just some of the things that I do. Maybe you will find an idea you like and hopefully save some money by trying it out!

Today I am thinking of going to an Arts and Crafts Show in Port Warrick which is in either Hampton or Newport News, Virginia.... never have been able to keep those two cities straight. I am interested in not just seeing the work but conversing with the artists about doing a show. I did a show about a week ago and it was a bomb, hardly anyone came, I had one sale and that didn't even cover the booth fee.

So maybe you're one of those busy people who hasn't fully embraced the idea of crockpot cooking? Maybe you need just a little more information to convince you to use a crockpot. How's this for encouragement: Dinner. Is. Ready. When. You. Get. Home. From. Work. What could be better!

As I crept into bed and used my LightWedge to set the alarm for 6am, I thought 'Do I really need to set an alarm?

On Thursday night my younger daughter and I went to my friend Bernadette’s house to celebrate the break-fast meal with her and her family, and some family friends. Bernadette and I go way back, and the way we re-connected is, perhaps, a sign that there are forces moving behind the scenes of our lives, and they do not only bring with them bitterness.

It's been a wonderful whirlwind... and I'm quite sad to say that tomorrow I'll be packing up and leaving. I feel like I've barely gotten to see what's around me in this beautiful part of the country (GAWD the fall leaves are pretty). I've taken very FEW pics... however this has been so fabulous a trip I can't complain!

Two months ago, I started looking into savings accounts with a better return than the promising-turned-dismal AEX Index-coupled account I had. This was for money my husband and I didn't need right away, but didn't want to risk. We'd chosen our bank's Amsterdam Exchange Index account two years ago, when it was averaging 4.5% yearly interest. And that's what we averaged the first year on money we set aside for six months at a time (in six equal monthly units to spread risk).
