Growing up, my mother always kept her house clean and suprisingly well organized. I had to have gotten my organizational ocd from someone and I blame her. This trait has helped me in acquiring several office manger type positions during my years of employment. And has saved me a lot of time and frustration when looking for everyday things.
This all of course was while I was still single and happily moving from big city to big city chasing down adventures.
Now I am in a committed relationship (5 years strong) and have a 6 month old son. I never realized before the extreme challange it was going to be organizing a small enough space with 3 people living in it. I used to be so meticulous and now I have sort of let it slip away.
Yes, I am admitting to the world my house is a mess. It's not as bad as it was a few months ago (looked like a tornado hit it). I actually had a good friend come over and help me clear out some stuff.
Even still I am continuously looking for resources to help me organize my disorganized madness.
Recently I came across Simplify 101 (http://www.simplify101.com). This site has a bunch of workshops and forums to help you regain a foothold on the little trinkets of your home. I signed up for their free one "Help! I don't know where to begin!"
You are provided .pdf files with how to instructions, including time management and acceptance of your feelings before and after you have put forth the effort to get rid.
I am a big believer in the phrase " Your space reflects your mental state". I feel that I have entered one of the best times in my life so far. I have learned that there will still be ups and downs but it is up to you what goes on in between.
This is a personal project and I will share progress as it happens.
Time to organize!
