A Stillness of Chimes - Book Review
By Life Breath Present on April 25, 2014
The cover image of Meg Moseley's latest novel, A Stillness of Chimes, is the first thing to grab your attention. The vividness of the blackberry juice-covered fingers intrigued me as I sat there staring at the 3 blackberries sitting so still in the outstretched palm. I wondered if it would be a tale of life's relation to blackberries. It was...to an extent. Although, I have to admit, it wasn't until late in the novel that I really found the connection between the opening chapters, the cover image, the blackberries, and reference to stillness of the title.
Overall, this is a tale of unending love, amidst unclear circumstances and grief. The love of a child for their parents and the belief in the power of that love. This is also a tale about growth. The kind of growth which occurs when one learns more about themselves and others over time. The kind of growth that is often termed maturity.
