Dear Dr. James F. Battey Jr,

We people of the Deaf Communities in the world are outraged, appalled, and anguished by this barbaric animal cruelty; namely the experimentation on four cats named Broc, Slinky, NJ, and Double Trouble at the University of Wisconsin. Social media notes that the cats were tormented with cochlear implants and other experiments for months, paid for by taxpayer dollars, including Deaf citizens' taxpayer dollars. Ultimately this experimentation led to the cat’s death and decapitation a few months ago. In researching of the savagery, it was found that the university had characterized Madison as a research center for the Deafness. According to complaints, the university had been turned into an animal cruelty research center as these few innocent loving cats had faced animal abusers as their torturers and executioners.

We join the PETA organization, DEAF COMMUNITY and as Deaf Revolutionists, in expressing our disagreement with the faculty of University of Wisconsin and its association with animal cruelty in research and experimentation.
We are torn by this abuse and join the worldwide protest to express our outrage and condemnation of this ferocious act driven by enmity against Deaf people and and their struggle for freedom from audism and peace. I find your research very disturbing and inhumane. Undoubtedly PETA members' individual and collective work and abiding commitment would continue to serve as an inspiration for all animals and Deaf activists and humanitarian people. It is with this spirit in mind that we call upon the University of Wisconsin to investigate the research independently and as expeditiously as possible so that responsible individuals and abusers are found and brought to justice.
Jeffrey DuPree, Deaf Revolutionist
