It was a fun-filled day that seemed to fly by so quickly. By the time we loaded everybody up to make the trip back home it was much later than we anticipated. I knew the kids were going to be getting hungry by the time we got home but I didn't want to end such a great day with fast food burgers and everyone scattering across the house the minute we walked in the door. Instead I was able to grab a Stouffer's Family Size Lasagna out of the freezer and have a delicious dinner on table in 35 minutes....more
While we were eating, I couldn't help but ask the kids if they liked it as much as my lasagna. Jack, who often has his Mama's back, dutifully said that mine was better but that he liked it very much. Noah, our peacemaker, stayed neutral and didn't even answer. Molly, however, said, "I don't want to hurt your feelings, but I like this better." That girl likes to call it like she sees it....more
This is the first year that I have had 2 kids in 2 or more sports at once. It's been really busy! I realize as a mom of three little kids that this is just the beginning of why moms joke about being a taxi driver. With my son in baseball with about 4 events a week and my 5-year-old in both gymnastics and cheer leading, we have an activity every day of the week, except Sunday....more
As you know, there are many various stages of life. We have been through the fun dating life, young married years, small babies craziness, etc. Right now, we are currently living in the "fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants-running-100-mph" stage. With 6.5 year old quadruplets in Kindergarten and extra curricular activities, life can get crazy busy! But it is an absolute blast and I wouldn't have it any other way....more
If you have been reading my blog for long, you know that we are a crazy busy family. As a single mom, pretty much everything is up to me. At the end of a long day of work and after all of our after school activities, I still have to make dinner. And trust me when I say that many days I really just want to hit a drive through and be done with it....more
When Stouffer's asked me to review two of their lasagnas I told a few friends that I would be their perfect spokeswoman! In fact, while picking up the free product at Walmart "to try" I bought extra lasagna to re-stock my freezer. We love lasagna in our house. We also absolutely love inviting friends and family into our home. However, I'll be the first one to admit, I need a little help when it comes to preparing the meal....more
This cute little mess maker with his bedhead, is sleeping well again after his first molars finally broke through. It took well over a week and boy were those long days! They happened to come, one right after another, while Mr. C was out of town for a week. Talk about timing! Did I mention those were long days?...more
One afternoon last week, Chris miraculously made it home before 6:30. He found us sitting in the front yard playing with sidewalk chalk and bubbles that the Easter Bunny brought last weekend. It is such a rare thing for Chris to be home early enough to hang outside with us. Normally, we are already inside cooking dinner by the time he gets there....more
Cooking dinner. It's a task I have done nearly nightly since Russ and I got married. Of course there have been times with new babies, travel, and even cross-country moves when I didn't cook much, but overall, I've cooked many dinners over the last (nearly) 30 years. Just for fun I multiplied 30 by 356 and can you believe, the total is 10,680 days?...more
Something I don't mention often is that I have a sister about 14 years older than me. When I was in junior high, she was married. I spent most of my time with her and her young kids. They were a Brady Bunch kind of family, with a few kids between them. I remember her husband calling her one night and asking what she was making for her dinner. Her exact words, "Lasagna from scratch."...more
