Surprise! What ever happened to the element of?

What ever happened to the element of surprise?  On one occasion I went shopping (some call them errands) for my kiddies. The first stop was to Party City buy an afro so that my 10-year old could dress-up like the semi-pro basketball players with his gaggle of friends. While there, I grabbed some "blinged" out jewels for my 7-year who insists on being a DJ/Rapper for Halloween.  Next stop (errand number two) was Daffy's in hopes of scoring a pair of black boots for the soon-to-be DJ/Rapper.  While they did not have black boots in her size, I did manage to scoop a cute pair of ankle boots (cowboy style) so that my mini-me could keep up with the trends (or the Kardashians).  I headed home with my purchases in hand and dumped the bags in my back hall upon arrival.  Fast-forward to the school bus pulling up, two kids charging in the house, backpacks strewn across the kitchen, bathroom breaks and somehow in the midst of the chaos I hear, "Mom, thank you SOOOOOO much for the rhinestone money earrings!!!!! They're awesome!!! And, OMG this fro is SICK!" WTF! I didn't even have a chance to give them the bag of goods- to present them with the gift- to say perhaps, "Here is a reward for good behavior."

The moral to the story. Hide everything.
