Is AT&T mobile service THAT bad?

I have AT&T cell service + data plan.  Read an article in BusinessWeek indicating that Apple has not been satisfied with AT&T, and that AT&T's cell service can be unreliable.  I blogged a little about it this morning (America, get your geek on!)

This has been SO far from my own experience with AT&T, I'm wondering if it's a function of where I live, or if BusinessWeek and Apple are just plain wrong about the reliability of the service.

Anyone else reading this have AT&T?  What's your opinion, both cell and data?
