A Taste of Irish Food Blogs
by Kalyn Denny

One of the amazing things about blogging is how it lets you into the lives of people who live so far away you'd never have a chance to encounter them otherwise. (I'm preaching to the choir pointing that out, but still, it does continue to amaze me.) When The Humble Housewife recently posted a list of Irish Food Blogs, I couldn't wait to have a peek into life in Ireland.

Turns out that some things are the same the world over. Caroline at Bibliocook has planted too many seeds, not thinned them properly, and now she has a glut of silverbeet in her garden, but she has some terrific ideas for what to do with it. (If you don't know what silverbeet is, clearly you have not been reading enough food blogs.

Ice Cream Ireland is one of the best-known food blogs on the list. Here you can find ice cream recipes, beautiful photos, and some interesting food experiments.

Yes, there's an Irish food blog called Italian Foodies, written by an Irish woman married to an Italian man, now living in Limerick. There are some great looking Italian recipes here, such as this one for Fussili al Pesto, served up with a bit of Irish commentary on Italian cooking.

Beccy at Peppermint Tea reveals her fireplace, and if you read carefully you'll also find out she has a famous foodblogging sister. Beccy started blogging because it helps her family keep in touch, since they live in so many different countries.

Finally, Stuff Yer Bake is subtitled "The Mad Ramblings of a Northern Irish Foodie." Sarah makes wedding cakes and stunning picnic food.

There's much more, so check out the entire list at The Humble Housewife, who was mentioned in Food and Wine magazine recently.

Blogher Food Editor Kalyn Denny is a little bit Irish and would definitely like to visit there some day.
