Keyboardist for The Moody Blues, Alan Hewitt, is set to release an incredible new album as Alan Hewitt & One Nation. I have always been an avid fan of Alan Hewitt’s work, especially his knack for songwriting. Hewitt is a renowned multi-platinum composer, writer and producer, with lots of years of experience under his belt. I am a hundred percent sure that this next body of work will live up to and surpass all expectations....more
Dear Diary:Let me begin with an apology. I know I’ve neglected you these last few years–since 1985, in fact, when I went to college, and life took off. During my freshman year, for example, I spent at least two weeks giggling over the name Balzac. Then I made some friends, and quite often we were compelled to dance to “Sweet Child of Mine” until 1 a.m. It left very little time for recording my thoughts, unfortunately. As it turns out, reflection isn’t a priority when one is counting down to Steak Night in the cafeteria....more
In my opinion, there is no one who can hate on Taylor Swift (though Kanye definitely tried). She is young, fresh, fun and one of the only younger female artists who didn't originate from the Disney Channel or Nickelodeon. Boys love her, girls want to be her best friend, and people from all ethnic backgrounds can be caught with one of her catchy songs from her 1989 album in their heads.
Whenever I listen to James Taylor, all I can think of is singer songwriter John McAndrew. Musically, they give off the same vibe which I really like. I’ve always been a James Taylor fan, so it was nice to find a current new artist making music in the same vein that I really enjoyed. Just like Taylor, John McAndrew’s words and his voice combine to form an overtly revealing experience which should please anyone’s musical palette....more
I’m attempting to finish my dissertation by the end of the month because I have approximately 22,000 words of other academic hell to wade through before I finish at the beginning of May. After that, I might finally stop talking about academia and my content will continue its spiral from actual despair into slow and steady mundanity. But until that point, I need music I can’t sing along to/weep-at-the-pure-angst-of-the-lyrics-I’m-looking-at-you-2006-bon-iver to. So of course I took, yet again, to twitter and this is what they came up with....more
Oleg Frish honors and sings with American Legends in his new album “Oleg Frish: Duets With My Amercian Idols” set to release on May 19th, 2015. I recently became of fan of Oleg because one of my co-workers recommended I take a listen to him. Classic Standards really is not my favorite genre, but I am so glad that I took a listen. Oleg has been in the US for just over twenty years. Besides singing, he also hosts TV and Radio shows as well as being a journalist. He is over-all very talented and that really comes across in his new album....more
