Barbie turned 55 this week. I’m not sure if I’ll send a card to her. We were really never the best of friends. She appeared in my house along with a friend or two but we just didn’t connect. Perhaps I was too busy riding my banana seat bike and getting my jeans muddy to notice her. She just didn’t grab my interest....more
It's St. Patrick's Day and like every year, we celebrate this holiday, with my husband's family, by wearing green, eating Irish stew and drinking Bailey's. Since my husband and I are both of Irish heritage, we like to carry on the Irish traditions that we are so proud of....more
Regardless of how endless Winter may have seemed for some of us, Spring is here! It arrives, in the Northern Hemisphere, on Thursday March 20, 2014 - finally. The Vernal Equinox coincides with the move of the Sun into active, aggressive, fiery Aries. In the past 12 months, the Sun has transited all 12 Zodiac signs and the cycle starts anew. At 1 degree of Aries, Spring is ready for us to bloom. The warrior Mars influenced, impulsive, physical high energy of the first Astrology sign can be used to springboard those ideas and projects that have been percolating all winter. Lets get a move on....more
Lilo has only recently started to use the word “creepy” correctly. She used it like the word “awesome” for a while, and it was funny as hell. Now, she is able to denote when something is creepy v/s when it is cool beans.
Which brings me to something that is both creepy AND cool beans. Parents were asked about the weirdest things their little kids have ever said to them. I don’t think people were expecting quite this level of “why did my skin just crawl and why are the hairs on the back of my neck standing up”.
The Moon will be in the health and service oriented Earth sign Virgo beginning Friday morning which will be great for getting things done - but wait, there’s more. It’s that time again! On Sunday March 16, 2014, the Moon (Virgo) is opposite and reflecting the Sun (Pisces) = “Full Moon”. This Lunar phase wants us to complete projects, crystallize ideas, finalize whatever vitamin or diet regimen you may have been planning....more
I see complaints bemoaning the lack of diversity in the mainstream comic medium quite frequently. Blog posts and Facebook group updates pointing out the lack of racial, religious and gender diversity in comic books - written both by people who read mainstream comics, those who shun mainstream comics but read indie, and those who have only a passing knowledge of the medium at all....more
Yankee Candle have found a new household scent to perfume their limited-edition bougie for Easter 2014. Turning to the beloved Peeps for inspiration, you will be able to smell the yummy yellowness of Peeps Marshmallow Chicks, incredibly said to be made with "with pure, natural extracts"......more
Oh big whoop, Bill O’Reilly doesn’t have anything nice to say about AfricanAmerican pop stars. This time he has pushed his hate-odometer to the socially acceptable standard for black women, Lady Bey herself, or Sasha Fierce, or Mrs. Carter, or Jay Z’s baby mama – or whatever they’re coining her today....more
As an avid book lover nothing makes me happier than when I discover a new book in a favorite series is going to be released in the next year. Unless of course I discovered one of my favorite authors has returned to a series that I love after stating very publicly they will not write any more books in that series....more
