An ambitious, financial security focused Capricorn New Moon helps us greet the New Year on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. After a few choruses of Auld Lang Syne and a couple of glasses of bubbly, whether it be champagne or ginger ale, New Moon energy can give us the push to start the year with plans to accomplish goals, advance a career, create space to achieve....more
You either laugh, smirk or roll your eyes, but it could happen.
After all, a month ago, did you think one of the most beloved icons of feminist queer music folklore, Ani DiFranco, would organize a (really expensive) retreat on a plantation? Yes, a plantation -- as in the antebellum Louisiana South....more
Beginning Friday December 27, 2013, until Sunday, the Moon is solidly in the middle of Scorpio drama, intensity and determination. Anything you want to find out? Search for anyone, uncover a mystery? The Scorpio Moon provides the determination and energy to discover and handle truths. Secrets are not safe from this Pluto ruled Water sign. No hiding allowed. It translates to an unwillingness to coast, “go along to get along”, etc. Some feathers may be ruffled, but the impulse to drill deep and get to the bottom of whatever will be hard to deny....more
The new Doctor Who will debut!
Now, I know there are other reasons people are happy about tomorrow. I myself have made a figgy pudding. The presents are all wrapped and Santa will be bringing them down the chimney to the delight of three little girls still young enough to believe in him. We’ll be attending the Candlelight Mass at our little Episcopal Church tonight. We will don our gay apparel and be of good cheer.
A few weeks ago, I posted a little challenge on my blog to ask people to send me a Christmas card and promising to donate $1 to Pittsburgh's LGBTQ Community Center in exchange - to bolster their membership campaign. It was a very off-the-cuff thing so I didn't expect a huge response....more
There are only 5 things this feminist wants for Christmas, and they are not monetary, vain, or tangible. They are wishes and hopes and desires that I find are missing in society. They are necessary for the enlightenment and empowerment of our girls and women, and I consider them "gifts" because they need to be given from a place of goodness and mutual respect....more
The Sun moving into Capricorn, the 10th sign of the Zodiac, also means the start of the Winter Solstice, the official beginning of Winter in the Northern Hemisphere on December 21, 2013. Capricorn, an Earth sign ruled by the planet Saturn, is serious, efficient, grounded, practical and ambitious. Yes, very different from all the upbeat holiday revelry, however, there’s no need to have a letdown. Capricorn can keep us busy, accomplished and sensible. Re-goal yourself (I made this word up), tune up career moves, network in house, organize whatever needs to be shaped up. Make something happen. Just don’t get so bogged down in responsibilities that you become rigid and cautious. ...more
Good day everyone. I have the pleasure to announce, my debut as an Independant author. I have just published my first ever novel, Wild Hunt, under my pen name Monica Baker. Reason why I chose a pen name is pretty simple. My real name is a long French name and it would be rather difficult for people to find on Amazon.Anyway, this book isn't your average paranormal romance featuring vampires and werewolves. This book features Norse Gods, most notably, Loki. Not the Marvel Loki mind you, I'm not into copyright infringement....more
The big Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty controversy has been stirring around my head since I heard about it yesterday. Hubby and I talked about it a bit last night at dinner too and Hubby, a huge fan of Duck Dynasty, has been posting about it on his Facebook page, a lot. While he and I agree on some of this topic, we disagree on others. It is a touchy subject for us....more
