I love cooking with couscous and lentils. Just in general. They are both quick, easy, and can be seasoned numerous ways. I often have a pre-made container of each in my fridge either to eat as-is, or to add to a new dish.
This is a great dish for dinner in a hurry. And as usual for my dishes, is very kid friendly. Both kids loved it.
All that's needed for this recipe is two small pots and a strainer. I love meals that don't require a million pots and pans, and that take less than 30 minutes to make.

Photo credit: Nancy Anne HarbordIn the UK we are inexperienced in the allure of cast iron. Reading US food blogs and literature tells me it is a part of life there, but not so much here. The pull of non-stick is powerful. Straight out of the box it offers eggs that slide right out of the pan. Who doesn’t want that for their eggs?...more
The last few years, I've been subscribing to different veggie boxes or complete weekly menu boxes, to see what works for me. When I lived in my student town, there were different possibilities to subscribe to organic veggie boxes. To me, the biggest disadvantage was that it was a monthly subscription. Where I live now, there's a very similar system, but you can decide each week if you sign in for next week's box. I like that system a lot—but when I got pregnant, I jumped off, too tired to work out weekly menus based on what was in the box.
Yes, I am aware that it is still only August, but like a lot of people, I LOVE fall and can't wait until it gets here. Snuggly clothes, pumpkin flavored everything, using the fireplace, lighting candles, drinking potfuls of tea apologetically... you get the drift.
Made with real mint leaves – sort of. At least I made the best use of whatever buds were growing from my mint pot. They are not growing very quickly though, so the next time I make this ice-cream, it would probably be after summer this year....more

Food Waste. Anyone who lives in the USA or Western World for that matter experiences this on a regular basis. Americans alone waste 20 pounds of food a MONTH. That’s a $165 billion each year (USDA). Wrap your head around that for a second. So how do we mitigate this problem? Well there is the obvious solution to eat less, but we Americans sure love to stuff our faces so I don’t see that happening anytime soon....more
I didn’t know such a thing as a flapjack exists until I came to the UK. In fact, it only revealed itself to me last November, while we were lunching at the Vennel’s Cafe in the city center. I’ve been tempted ever since to give it a try – both orally and skill wise....more
