Last year, I made a ton of salsa, but not enough marinara sauce. This year, I am stocking up on both, and since my basil plants are doing better than ever, my goal is working out really well for me! When having large parties, I want all the food to be done and taken care of so I don't have to worry about a thing when people are here. Nothing is worse then doing a million dishes when I want to be relaxing with my guests. Last weekend, it was Simon's baptism. We did it on Saturday night which makes it fun to have a little dinner celebration afterwards, however, we weren't going to get back from mass until almost 6. By that time, the kids were going to be really hungry.
This year was the first year that we planted a garden. Although it didn't do as well as I had hoped, we still got a good amount of produce out of it. Two of our veggies thrived big time though, our one cucumber plant and two kale plants. This was awesome since Steven is apparently obsessed with cukes (we literally were picking up to 7 or 8 a week for a couple weeks!) and I love kale. However, I discovered that I had no idea what to do with all the kale besides make salads....more
