Maintaining my milk supply is a struggle, but one that is manageable. I know that after a weekend of hard, long training or racing that I will see a drop in my supply in the days immediately following. The human body is amazing, but expecting it to produce the same amount of milk after a 6 hour bike ride, 4,000 yard swim, and 22 mile run (over the course of 2 days) is pushing it. But, there are a few steps that I take to immediately work on increasing my supply back up to where it should be.
The first few weeks after finding out I was pregnant, I worked out normally, just removing abs from my regime. And then I got sick. Really sick. And tired. Once I started treating my chronic sickness with Zofran, I was able to jump back into a regular (ish) routine. 4 workouts a week- cardio, back/triceps, shoulders/biceps, and legs.
Now, summer is upon us, and it's bathing suit season. I'll be getting out of the house and heading to the pool. I want to get back to feeling comfortable with my body for pool season, and quite frankly, after pool season too. It's time to find a balance. I am vowing to lose this big ol' blogger butt...one way or another....more
