Today's prompt: What do you do when you're down to bring yourself a little joy?
It really is the little things, sometimes, that help you get through the day. Between work and a toddler and the emotions rolling from this year, all with some added depression... finding joy can feel like an impossible thing some days. So it's truly the little things - small focuses.
I've been asked by a couple of people what went into planning the Winter Is Coming 5K that I used as a fundraiser for RODS Racing. Just to explain from my site, a virtual 5K is "a race you do on your own time. You don’t need to get up early, you don’t need to do it on a weekend, you do it when it works for YOU."
People who entered my virtual 5K got a race bib and a medal for completing it, and I raised money for RODS. I did a little light Googling in the early planning stages of the race, but I feel like there's some value to writing a post about how I organized a virtual 5K myself. Everyone's different, right?
Reached the end of NaBloPoMo November and fell six short of meeting the daily blog post goal. Still, you never know what you can do until you try, and much of creativity stems from how much you interact with the outer world and, in that way, further delving into the blogging universe through NaBloPoMo has been a valuable exercise. ...more
My father enjoys sitting in the dark.Sometimes he sits outside, but mostly he sits in the little TV and computer room that my parents made out of one of the spare bedrooms. It may be late at night, but he keeps all the lights off. I may see the glow of the television as I walk by; aside from the news shows, my Dad likes watching serials and movies about murders and gangsters and investigations, the bloodier the better. I did it! I posted every single day in November. I may have had 2 or 3 late 2:00 am posts so by the clock it looked like I posted twice in one day, but I made sure I posted before I went to bed. There were two days where I forgot to cross-post onto BlogHer, but still I got my butt in the chair and posted every single day.
