How to Spend a Million

I have a secret.  All day I have been carrying in my backpack $1 million in Monopoly money. That's 66 games of Monopoly I had to buy to obtain this much cash. Why, you ask?  Good question.  I have been pondering how to spend my million buckaroos within 24 hours.  I have to spend them by midnight or I turn into a pumpkin.  Oh wait, pumpkins are so yesterday.  A squirrel then.  I turn into a squirrel at midnight unless I spend it all. Here is my list of the most fun spending I have done in a lifetime.  ...more

Grace (Every Damn Day)

November is apparently NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month).  Or maybe every month is. Over at Blogher.com, a website which is confusing, but seems to be a meeting place for zillions of bloggers, there are many prompts to log in and share posts.  This website has always intimidated me, but seems like a good way to connect, so I'm going for it. ...more

First Day Back

I am participating in a blog challenge for the month of November in hopes to get more active again with my personal blog.  I took on a "business" page and since then I have slacked on this one.  Not to mention since the school year started our schedules have been crazy busy.   ...more

What I'm Reading - Beautiful Creatures

Okay, so today's post was supposed to be my Stacking the Shelves October post (the one where I tell you what new books I either bought, borrowed or took out of the library). Unfortunately today turned out to be a bit busier than anticipated and I didn't quite find the time to sit down and write that one (though in theory it should be a pretty quick write up.) Since it is NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month for those who don't know), and since I don't really want to fail by missing the first days post, I have come up with an alternative post....more

Facing The NaBloPoMo Challenge

She was so lovely - elegant - like a stream-lined motif for regal life.  Her voice had a blues singer crack in it and she giggled young though she had certainly left girlhood behind dusty decades ago.  I bought her book because I loved her face and the way she typed all the important things in Evernote like an eager college ...more

Day 1 - Enough!

Ahem. The total count was 324. Yes, you read that right. After an entire hour of typing, this morning, my first day of NaNoWriMo produced only 324 words.Unlike my last few rodeos, however, they were 324 well thought out, clever words. But still, there were only 324 of 'em.Just in case this means nothing to you, that's 324 words of a 1,667 word goal. And, it's the first day.Afterwards, while brushing my teeth (TMI?), I could hear the theme from Jaws playing softly in the background.Yikes...more

Cowboy Clay...for a little bit

Cowboy Clay didn't want to wear his cowboy hat...or his cowboy boots...or carry his six-shooter, but he was still stinkin' cute when we took him out trick-or-treating tonight. ...more

Wall of Fire Around My Heart

I am a worshipper by ‘heart’.Does that make me emotional?  I guess it does, although I prefer the term “passionate”.  And quite frankly, I have to say that for too long, ‘emotions’ have gotten a ‘bad name’.  Women are judged to be inconsistent and have even been disqualified from leadership (inside and outside of the church), executive decisions and so many other forums because they are deemed to be ‘emotional creatures’....more
