I was just at the dashboard of my blog, Musings By Glynis. I was so surprised to see that seven -- yes 7! -- people from BlogHer had visited me. I was not expecting that seeing that it's taken me so long to visit anyone here. I'm been having problems getting readers to my blog so I was busy working on that instead of doing some socializing here. This will teach me, won't it?!
Thank you so much! I will be sure to touch base here much more often.

I'm not a big fan of New Year's resolutions (and it has nothing to do with Billy Joel), but this is a great time to take a look at your blog's "About Me" page and your online profile and bio pages. A lot can happen in a year, and if you're anything like me (and Kristy) ages can go by before you get around to updating those pages. Heck, I work at BlogHer and my public profile here was so outdated that it said I lived in Florida. (I haven't lived there since 2008!)
I wake up for the work day a little after 5AM. Imagine my surprise when I was awoken, not by my alarm, but by a local news station's "Closing Alerts" text message. I assumed, like any normal human, that this meant that school would be closed for the day. I was wrong. I opened the message and saw "Decision Pending." Super. Technically the decision is pending every day, but the fact that my district was deliberating the advantages and disadvantages of staying open today was brought to my attention at 4:20AM....more
Telework, telecommunting, a distributed or home-based workforce – no matter what you call it – I’m a tried and true advocate! I have long felt that telecommuting has made me more productive and I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to work from home in a variety of roles – as a business owner, a contractor and now as a corporate employee....more
I have been thinking a lot lately about my schedule and how I am going to get it all done, including a little time for me. I have sort of been freaking out, because my schedule is going to be picking up a lot here soon- not a bad thing, I know, and I am not complaining. I am actually really excited as well as very anxious....more
Hello audience (or lack thereof!). It’s been a long time since I’ve written to you. You see, my job has kept me very busy and when I’m not working, I’m trying really hard to hold it together as a wife and mom and at least appear to the outside world as though I’m on top of my game. Yes, life is busy…and then came the holidays and it got even busier. Christmas card writing, present buying (and wrapping! and hiding!), party hosting, party going, baking, drinking too much, eating too much….yikes!...more
The Opportunity: Agents are hungry for authors and books to represent. The Challenge: Author only have 3 seconds to make a lasting impression on an agent. The Truth: More than 90% of authors get rejected – not because of their project itself but because: • they haven’t submitted to the right agent for their book • they are submitting documents that are in the wrong format or • what they submit is incomplete …so they never get seen....more
