Simple Ways to Workout Throughout a Busy Day

Often times weekends for my husband are devoted to long hours of studying. Dental school is demanding and includes early mornings, late nights, weekend projects, exams, lab practicals, the list goes on. Needless to say, it’s a lot of hard work. He loves to run and lift when he has time, but unfortunately that doesn’t happen as often as he’d like....more

Let's Kill Restrictive Eating

I've found myself reading a lot of articles and blog posts about positive body image and the goal of having the general population accept that extreme diets will never work.  I am fascinated by the way media and businesses have made a profit off of people who just want to live a higher quality life. I...more

Why Body Painting is the Best Thing Ever

First of all, body paint is art. It is sensual creativity expressed on a naked body: the focus is on the art, the paint, not the naked body beneath it.The artists use shadows and colour to emphasize parts of the body that their clients love, and to diminish parts that they don’t. Brilliant colours make different sized breasts look symmetrical, shadows and contouring give the illusion of curve where there is bone, and patterns hide scars from a difficult cancer treatment....more

If you've had plastic surgery, this stuff is second nature. So please move on to that blog about 'best cranberry muffin recipes' or '7 Signs that Little Johnnie and Little Marcia will grow up to be psychokillers.' For the unbaptized, that would be most of you, contrary to what the Conventional Wisdom would have you swallow, when you have plastic surgery, you have almost nothing in common with a Barbie Doll.  Almost nothing....more

Ground Zero

As this is the first blog I've ever really done, I know I'm subject to the opinions and criticisms that others may have..or maybe no interest at all. I don't know where this will take me. But I hope for balance in myself-something I have always felt with writing yet never shared to the extreme I am now by using a public blog as my journal. It's a huge step and a way for me to open my heart a little more....more

How PROM Can Destroy Our Daughters

It's prom season. I don't even know people. My mind has been flipping around thoughts, that happen to run into my emotions and then I find myself confused and disgusted and convicted all at once.  The Prom, which is another fancy and loaded word for High School dance, is a time where students spend now on the average of $1100 to go hang out with the same friends they see all the time, every day. Yes, $1100.  A house payment. Now before I go on I have a few things to say :...more

The weight of being overweight

I am invisable.  People snicker, point, outright laugh...stage whisper.  Apparently when you are fat, you are also presumed to be deaf.  Realistically, I got here one coca cola and snicker bar combo at a time.  Emotionally I am a wreck.  I feel very defeated and hopeless to change this fat trap I am in.  I built a large mound of adipose tissue to protect me...from what?  I don't know.  I somehow got in the mind frame that I DESERVED to eat whatever I wanted.  Don't I desrve it?  I mean I have quit smoking, I don't drink and I did beat cancer...more
