For grownups
Emerging from my ennui to recap the runway. So, we finally made it to the Project Runway finale, and it's a sad indication that the moment of highest drama, on or off the runway, was Carol Hannah puking in the bathroom.

It was hard to write this post without singing The Twelve Days of Christmas (Five Golden Rings!) but I did have a good time putting it together. Herewith, my Twelve Days Of Giving which can certainly be edited down to eight or two or even five, depending on what holidays you celebrate.First:
Every year around the same time my skin starts to change. I don't seem to notice it until I'm trying to apply makeup and it doesn't quite "sit right" on my face. It's not that this sneaks up on me. It's more that I'm thinking it's always other environmental changes and work becomes so busy in the fall months that it appears that I've not been taking care of my skin.

Take one part Olympic fever, one part the realities of a Canadian winter, one part philanthropy and one part Canadian patriotism all rolled up in red wool and what do you get? Canada's obsession with the Canadian 2010 Olympic mittens.

Holiday Survival Guide 09
Blink your eyes and the holidays will be upon us. Heck, Thanksgiving is days away. Got your holiday wardrobe planned? Buying something new to wear to that party you’ve been invited to/are hosting? No? Me neither. And that’s why I’ve come up with ten cheap tricks to make what we are wearing right now seem somewhat more festive – for far less money than a new dress. Ready?
Ah, fall is finally here.I love fall -- it's so beautiful, especially in New England. What I don't love is that it heralds the starts of indoor heating season, and what that means that my skin is starting to resemble an emery board. Which is never a good thing, but which really stinks when you also have to wear fleece and wool and tights. I can start a fire if I'm not careful. Here are my favorite ways to keep dry skin at bay:1. Moisturize
It's holiday party time, which means that at least half of you are scrambling around looking for something festive to wear to that one big party. Or those three big parties! And you're also trying to figure out how to pay for holiday travel and gifts and entertaining, which means that the idea of buying a dress you will only wear once is a little stressful.Am I right?

I visited a friend in London this past weekend. While I was there, I ate lots and lots of yummy chocolate and cheese and baked goods. I basked in the idea that national health care was a given. Even more, the UK National Health Service doesn't rob women of their reproductive rights by allowing religion to dictate what health services are covered; except for in Northern Ireland, termination (abortion) services are covered. After a horrible week in the US, where Democrats sold out women and allowed religious lobbies to impose their beliefs on my health, I thought about defecting. London is perfect! Well, except that even in the UK, women are told that you need set aside your own preferences and needs if you want to get and keep a man.
On Tuesday night, Glamour held its annual Women of the Year to-do, with guests ranging from Maya Angelou and former President Clinton to Steven Tyler and the Queen of all Media, Ms. Tyra Banks. We can only imagine the kind of pressure that comes with trying to look your best at an event built around the awesomeness of women -- especially with a guest list so varied and glittering. As always, a few celebrities pulled it off with aplomb, but for others, actual glamour was in disappointingly short supply.
No, this isn't a case of seasonal dyslexia--you really can wear shorts for Fall. The key is to pair your shorts with fall staples, such as sweaters, leggings, and boots. (No shorts with sandals for Fall, unless you live in a tropical climate.) With the appropriate layers, your summer shorts can fit comfortably right into the fall season. Here's how to wear your summer shorts this Fall:
This week, Metalia took one for the beauty team: She tested L'Oreal's Telescopic Explosion mascara. Sound enticing? Take two minutes and read her review.(Really, go read. I'll wait.)
