I made two extravagant purchases yesterday. Even in times of sluggish cash flow, it's important to treat ourselves extra sweetly now and then. I bought a copy of Artful Blogging magazine, just for the beauty of it. I'm going through it slowly, turning every page, savoring it like a piece of fine dark chocolate. I'm looking for something, and I don't know what it is, but I know it will find me if I make a welcoming place for it....more
It's November, and you know what that means..Thanksgiving will be here before you know it. To us that means family and friends gathering for food, fun and football! Our recipes this month will focus on that, and should you have any to share..by all means, it's not a party until everyone get's here! In all my years, I have never had my dander fly so high as in recent days given that a pattern designer emailed me in a rather obnoxious and accusatory tone, and told me that I had infringed on her copyright by posting a tutorial on my blog using her quilt pattern. The Question was, and probably still is, Make beads or wait tables? Those are the options I know about. There are countless others I can't see, but for now, I have to work with what I know to be available. One by one we're making little commitments here in Taos. The stinky old couch is officially unsalvageable, so it's on its way out. A new couch says, OK. We'll stay a while. Borrowing a day bed for Lauren's room says, OK....more
We are officially entering the holiday season and Fall, beautiful Fall, is in full swing. It seems to get so many of us feeling cozy and creative. Fall really is a muse to so many artists. It is only natural at this time of year, as you enter into winter, to be mindful of the gifts of the previous seasons.
I also start feeling all home-body-like.
I want to harvest the rest of my basil and make fresh pesto to be frozen for use in the winter.
I want to cook delicious dinners, but mostly I want to eat a lot of bread.
